There are a number of ways in which parents and whanau can get involved with Te Kura o Otari.
Parents Committee
Te Kura o Otari parent committee is a fundraising group, open to all parents/caregivers of the school. It is affiliated to the Board of Trustees. The committee has been active in organising school fairs, the school disco and quizz evenings.
Montessori Trust
The Montessori Trust is responsible for collecting the Montessori donations. With this money they manage the Montessori equipment, employ the teaching assistant and contribute to professional development and teacher training. The Trust also support the parent information evenings and organise social events. Click here for more about the Montessori Trust and members.
Māori Immersion Whānau
The Māori Immersion strand whānau are actively involved in supporting the strand and wider school.
Parents who have children with Special Needs
Parents with students who have special needs meet throughout the year to discuss topical issues, listen to guest speakers and provide support for each other. Bernadette Macartney is the facilitator and contact person for this group.

Volunteering
There are a number of other areas in which parents and whanau do volunteer work for the school. These include:
- working in the library covering books
- sharing and teaching skills such as sewing, cooking, science experiements, art during developmental class time on Friday mornings
- gardening
