Otari School Vision –
Te Tirohanga Whānui o te Kura o Otari
‘Inspiring a love of learning through an education
that values the development of the whole child’
E tipu, e rea, mō ngā rā o tō ao,
ko tō ringaringa
ki ngā rākau a te Pākehā
hei oranga mō tō tinana,
ko tō ngākau ki ngā taonga o ō tīpunahei tikitiki mō tō māhunga,
Ko tō wairua ki tō Atuanāna nei ngā mea katoa.
Grow up and thrive
For the days destined to you,
Your hands to the tools of the Pākehā
To provide physical sustenance,
Your heart to the treasures of your Māori ancestors
As a diadem for your brow,
Your soul to your God
To whom all things belong. (Tā Apirana Ngata)
The Otari School Curriculum/ Te Marautanga o Te Kura o Otari has been developed to express our school community’s particular approach to learning and teaching. This shared document expresses our directions for learning, including our vision, values and principles; how we approach planning for the incorporation of the key competencies; and how the learning areas and their relevant achievement objectives from the gazetted national curricula are delivered. It clarifies the priorities for learning within each strand and identifies what constitutes an effective pedagogy in our school/ kura. It also documents how we conduct our reviews and the on-going design of our school’s Curriculum/ Marautanga.
A condensed version of the Otari School Curriculum is available from the library.
